Dana MacCrimmon

Dana MacCrimmonFirefighter Dana MacCrimmon died on August 11, 2006, after becoming ill and being hospitalized following a fire call the previous evening. The cause of death has not been released.

MacCrimmon, who was 45, was Carbondale's first female firefighter when she was hired in 1998. She was named the city's Employee of the Year in 2005. She was also very active with the Southern Illinois Camp for Burned Children.

She is survived by her daughter, Mallory, and by her sons, Justin and Cody. She is the first Carbondale firefighter ever to die in the line of duty.
