Valeree Claude, a firefighter with the Pinetop Fire Department in northeastern Arizona, died in her sleep while on duty on June 24.
Claude, who was 33, had been with the department since 2003, serving briefly as a reserve firefighter before being hired full-time. She was one of the department's fitness instructors, and was well respected by her peers.
Claude is survived by her husband and two children.
