Barbara Bordenkircher

Barbara Bordenkircher, a volunteer firefighter with the Wickliffe, Kentucky, Volunteer Fire Department, was killed on August 10, 2004, while responding to a report of a grass fire. Wickliffe was driving the fire apparatus when it left the road and struck a tree. Bordenkircher was pronounced dead at the scene. Another firefighter riding in the vehicle, William Stanton, was seriously injured in the crash.

Bordenkircher, who was 52, had been with the department for more than a year. She also volunteered for the Barlow Fire Department and the Ballard County Rescue Squad. She is survived by her husband, who is also a volunteer firefighter.
