Bridgett Nicole Autry

Bridgett Autry, a volunteer firefighter with the Herring Volunteer Fire Department in Clinton, North Carolina, died June 13 in a car crash. Autry, who was 18, was responding to a fire call when she lost control of her private vehicle, which left the road, struck a barn, and flipped several times. Autry was thrown from the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at an area medical center.

Autry was a student at Midway High School and had been a member of the fire department for two years. Co-workers said she was not a reckless driver, and that "her goal in life was to help everybody in this community."
