Job Description: Firefighter Recruit

The Tempe Fire Department is providing the opportunity for qualified men and women to apply to become a member of our proud organization. Our department employs 160 people who are dedicated to serving the population of 165,000 Tempe citizens. Tempe is a dynamic community; home of the largest University in the nation Arizona State, Insight.com Bowl and California Angels Spring Training. Tempe also stands out due to Tempe Town Lake which provides recreational opportunities to its residents. Fire and medical service delivered is with the highest degree of care and professionalism making Tempe a safe place to work, live and play.

Located within Tempe’s 40 square miles are six fire stations housing seven engine companies, two ladder companies, a scene support (air and light unit), and one command vehicle staffed with a Battalion Chief and a Captain Field Incident Technician. Each of the ladder and engine companies are staffed around the clock with four firefighters.

In order to be considered, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- 18+ YearsOld
- Valid DriversLicense
- HS Diploma or GED
- EMT Certification is Recommended

Current Annual Salary for position of Firefighter Recruit: $37,292 and $42,191 upon successful completion of the academy.
