Creating a community of fire service women

We play different parts in the fire service: firefighter, officer, chief, paramedic, EMT, fire inspector, arson investigator, fire safety educator, training instructor.

We work in the cities and the small towns, the forest and the desert.

We are career professionals, seasonal employees, and dedicated volunteers.

We are of all ages and many races, speaking many languages.

For all our differences, we have still more in common: our love of the work we do, our dedication to service, and our commitment to excellence.

Women in the Fire Service, Inc., nurtures the worldwide community of fire service women in many ways. We offer this website, print publications, and biennial conferences and leadership seminars. We welcome you to our network, and encourage you to join with us in this effort.

You may choose to network with other fire service women on our bulletin board, meet up in person at local events around the country, or visit other sites of interest on our list of links.

Women who are fire officers and aspiring chiefs may also be interested in the website and activities of the Women Chief Fire Officers' organization.
