"Courage and Commitment: A Capital Experience"

The 11th International Conference of Fire Service Women

Day on the National Mall

We'll kick off the conference early, on Tuesday, March 29, with a special tour hosted by the District of Columbia Fire Department. This is your chance to visit the many museums and historic spots on the National Mall, in the heart of Washington, D.C., together with firefighters from across the country and around the world.

Running from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol Building, with its hub at the Washington Monument, the Mall is home to the museums of the Smithsonian Institute, the National Air & Space Museum, the Vietnam Memorial Wall, the Natural History Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and the Hirshhorn Art Museum and Sculpture Garden. Nearby are the White House, the Jefferson Memorial, the Holocaust Museum, and many other educational and sightseeing options. (For a virtual tour of the Mall, click here.)

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to visit D.C. while you're in town for the conference. Buses will leave the conference hotel on Tuesday morning to take attendees to the Mall; maps and information about the museums will be provided, allowing you to customize your visit depending on your own interests. A voucher for lunch at a museum restaurant is included. Buses will return attendees to the hotel in the late afternoon, in time for the evening reception.

Plan your calendar now to be there on Tuesday for this fun and educational visit!
