Friday luncheon presentation: "In the Tsunami's Wake"

We are honored to have as our luncheon speaker on Friday, April 1, Deanne Shulman, who recently returned from working with the U.S. Agency for International Development doing disaster relief work in Sri Lanka.

TShulman, a longtime WFS member, is a Disaster Mitigation Management Specialist in International Programs for the U.S.D.A. Forest Service. She has worked for the Forest Service since 1974 in a wide range of positions. At the field level, whe has been on hotshot crews, helicopters, engines, eventually serving as a battalion chief. She was the first woman ever to become a smokejumper. Since 1992, she has been involved in international fire management, research, and disaster response; she is currently program manager for a program to integrate the Incident Command System into the disaster response system of India.
