CERTIFIED CANDIDATES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Must be 18 years of age at time of employment. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Valid State of Florida Fire Fighter certification required. Must obtain State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) License within one year from date of employment. Municipal Fire Inspector certifications preferred. Valid Florida Driver NON-CERTIFIED CANDIDATES: Salary without Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) License: $13.22 (40 hours per week) Salary with EMT License: $13.91 (40 hours per week) NOTES: Applicants must meet age, moral, educational, health, and physical requirements as prescribed by the City. Pre-employment medical examination required, including satisfactory drug screening. Work requires physical strength and agility. Work requires emergency call duty, performing tasks in and around heavy traffic, and may require exposure to hazardous conditions and noxious chemicals. Work may require performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions. Applicants must comply with Gainesville Fire Department's smoking prohibition policy.
