Jaime L. Foster

Jaime L. Foster, a probationary firefighter with the Los Angeles City Fire Department, was killed at the scene of a structure fire on August 14, 2004, when she apparently fell from her fire engine and was run over. She is the first woman in the history of the department to die in the line of duty.

Foster was 25 years old and had been with the fire department only a few months. She was assigned to Station 73 in Reseda. Foster was also a paramedic and a nurse who had previously worked at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California.

Funeral services for Firefighter Foster were held on August 20 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Memorial donations in her name may be sent to:
